Introduction: Today I will be reviewing the famous silicone makeup sponge that everyone has been crazy about. First off, I bought my sponge off of a site called Aliexpress that ships most products from China. If you ever need to buy cheap phone cases and screen protectors this is the site that you have to check out. The one I ordered was $1.34 Cdn which is very cheap for a dupe of the Silisponge. First Impressions: When I received the product in the mail I was so excited because I heard so many great things about this. When I touched it, I was amazed at how soft and squishy it felt. I have never felt something so soft and bouncy before. It came in a decent sponge size and the smell of the sponge was nothing revolting or strong. By just feeling the sponge I know that it will apply very smoothly over my skin.
First Application: In the image below, the one on the left is before application with the sponge where my face was only primed and moisturized. On the right is the image after applying a thin layer of the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. The application process was so smooth and the product glided around my face very easily and the the best part is that no product was absorbed through the sponge. Whatever amount I put onto the sponge is the same amount that will end up on my face. I can't believe how smoothly and seamlessly it applied. By observing the right picture, we can see that there are no streaks or any appearance that I am wearing any foundation. The sponge gave a very smooth and natural finish application of my foundation. I was very impressed at how easily the sponge applied product through my face. The best part is that the application was even and I didn't have any cakey splotches throughout my face.
Cleanup: I always dread cleaning up my makeup sponges and brushes because they take forever to wash and dry. However, this sponge was so easy to clean and the makeup residue basically glided right off the sponge. I only needed a little bit of soap and water to clean all the product off of the sponge. I was very happy that it only took one wipe to dry the whole sponge and it was ready to be used again. The cleaning process would take approximately one minute and you have a clean sponge ready to be used. This is the most important part because I now have a sponge that is always clean and ready to apply my face products onto my face. This fast cleaning process will motivate more people to clean their sponges because it is so easy to wash and you know your sponge will clean for the next use.
Pros: This sponge is inexpensive and for a little over one dollar, I can get smooth, even and flawless application of products on my face. You can't ask for anything better for the price that I paid for. This product doesn't leave streaks and it blends products in very easily. In the long run I will also save a lot more money on products because this sponge doesn't absorb products so it can limit the amount of product that you use. It is also very easy to clean and doesn't take long to have a sponge ready to be used again.
Cons: There isn't a lot of bad things to say about a product that only costs a dollar and gives you a nice even and smooth application. The only downside that I can think of for this product is applying foundation onto crevasses of your face like your nose. Since the sponge isn't designed to get into the spaces on your face, you will have to spend some time moving and molding the sponge to blend products near your nose area.
As you can see on the picture above, my nose still has some redness that needs to be blended after the first layer of foundation. It took be some time to blend around that area but it wasn't tedious and it didn't take that long. Other than that problem, there isn't anything to complain about this product
Final Rating: 9.5/10! You can't ask for anything better at this price. This is really a good product and you can buy many for the price of one Beauty Blender. I highly recommend this product to everyone. If you are like me that hates washing your brushes and sponges this might be the best thing you've ever tried.
